ESTATE PLANNING

Estate Planning involves some or all of the areas below, and much, much more.

WILL

Do you have a Current Will?

When was it prepared?

Have you married, divorced or had children after the will was prepared?

Do you know what happens if you die without a will?

POWER / ENDURING POWER OF ATTORNEY

Do you have one of the above?

Do you know the difference?

Do you believe you can never have an accident or medical condition and as a result, you can’t manage your affairs?

INSURANCES

So many types: car, house, travel, health, life, income protection.

It is the last which is the most important!!!

Do you have it, regardless of whether you are employed or self-employed?

Did you know that most accidents occur outside the workplace.

SUPERANNUATION

If you are still working, is all your super in one place?

Are you aware of salary sacrifice into super?

Does your superfund have a binding death benefit nomination in place? What about insurance policies?

And if you set up your own superfund (SMSF), is a corporate trustee more appropriate than 2 or more individual trustees?

The above are all “life” issues and need to be reviewed regularly (every 2-3 years).

In a recent speech, the ex-Disability Discrimination Commissioner (Graeme Innes) said that the difference between an able-bodied person and a disabled person is about “one second” – that’s all it takes to change your life.
